Consiglieri Handmade: the details of hand execution
Handwork shows in the details and is felt in the way a piece sits. A carefully set collar, the edge of a lapel, a buttonhole and the attachment of the lining are places where execution contributes to the character of the suit. For the client seeking a fuller sartorial experience, it is worth knowing which operations are carried out by hand in the chosen configuration.
Maison Consiglieri offers, in the MEN world, a Handmade option with over 90% of operations carried out by hand. This percentage applies to this option. Each range has its own level of handwork and its own specifications.
What the term Handmade actually describes
Handmade refers to the method of execution. It complements the information about internal construction, material and the made-to-measure process. Before the order, your consultant clarifies the operations and finishes included for the desired piece.
Within the available configurations, handwork may include setting the collar, the buttonholes, the breast pocket, the edge stitching and local reinforcements. Attaching the lining at the armhole, cuffs and hem may also be part of this execution. The list differs by manufacture and configuration.
The collar, the lapel and the continuity of the line
The collar and lapels form one of the most visible areas of the jacket. In the showroom, look at their continuity, their proportion to the shoulders and the way they frame the face. Execution details are discussed together with the shape of the lapel, its width and the outer fabric.
A buttonhole or a decorative stitch may catch the eye, but it does not describe the whole suit on its own. The right question concerns the complete configuration: the construction, hand operations and finishes available for the chosen model.
The interior deserves the same attention
The lining, the attachments and the finishing of the hems contribute to the experience of wearing. The way they are made and positioned relates to the construction of the piece. A carefully finished interior should be considered alongside the outer proportions and comfort in movement.
At the fitting, this assessment becomes personal. You check how the jacket sits, how the sleeves feel and how the piece works when you move. Your consultant and the tailor set the necessary adjustments, within the limits of the chosen configuration.
Handmade and full canvas: two separate pieces of information
Full canvas indicates canvas support across the entire front of the jacket. Handmade indicates hand execution. A full canvas suit may have machine-made operations; the extent of the canvas does not, on its own, establish the percentage of handwork.
In the same conversation, Made to Measure concerns the adaptation of a piece to the client's measurements and proportions. Bespoke is a distinct Consiglieri option, offered at express request, with the process clarified separately. The right choice requires each of these characteristics to be specified.
When to choose an extended level of handwork
It may be for a ceremony suit, for an important piece in the professional wardrobe or out of personal interest in sartorial execution. We start from the way you will wear the suit and from what matters to you: the line, comfort, material, details and budget.
A private tailoring experience gives you the time needed for these choices. You can discuss examples of finishes, compatible configurations and the fitting process before confirming the order.
