Vitale Barberis Canonico - The Symbol of Italian Excellence since 1663

𝑉𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑒 𝐵𝑎𝑟𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑠 𝐶𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑛𝑖𝑐𝑜 is the fabric manufacturing company with the richest tradition in the world, with origins dating back to the Renaissance period.
In the archives of Vitale Barberis Canonico there is a carefully preserved document, called "quinternetto delle taglie", which translates to "size quintet," representing a measurement table for the early fabric orders of this manufacturer.
The document attests to the first transaction under the Barberis Canonico family, carried out by the owner Ajmos Barbero for the Duke of Savoy.

The transaction presented the activities undertaken with the fabrics, as well as the wool dyeing process, a process that is representative of this company to this day.

Between 1850 and 1880, the owners of 𝑉𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑒 𝐵𝑎𝑟𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑠 𝐶𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑛𝑖𝑐𝑜 introduced automation to almost every process in the factory, which changed the brand's image and vision forever, increasing production capacity, efficiency, precision, and reducing the time it took to create fabrics. Before the first machine arrived in 1868, the entire production and dyeing process was done manually under the same roof.

In 1890, Giuseppe Barberis Canonico introduced the final pieces into what was a complete production cycle at the original factory in the Priatrivero region, Italy.

Due to flourishing sales growth, in 1921 the 𝑉𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑒 𝐵𝑎𝑟𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑠 𝐶𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑛𝑖𝑐𝑜 family decided to expand to meet the increased demand, building two more factories in the Priatevero region which had been its home for three centuries.

With this decision, the company's prestige grew, allowing them to become manufacturers not only for Europe, but also for America, British India, and even China.

After the end of World War II, the company focused its efforts on innovation, quality control, and customer relations. Wishing to be found in almost every man's wardrobe, 𝑉𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑒 𝐵𝑎𝑟𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑠 𝐶𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑛𝑖𝑐𝑜 became the preferred fabric supplier for workshops around the world, from Naples to Saville Row - London, becoming a brand synonymous with elegance and tradition.

Attention to detail and extraordinary quality are attributes that make Vitale Barberis Canonico fabrics so special. The entire production process has always been carefully supervised, from the selection of raw materials to the final fabric on the factory shelves and in stores worldwide.

The process begins with the selection of the highest quality wool, Australian merino wool, with the most special properties, superior to other raw materials. This then arrives in Italy, where all successive production stages take place, carefully monitored by the Barberis family.

The first step consists of obtaining the wool yarn. Once produced, it is woven, dyed, and then finished, resulting in excellent fabrics that integrate into the measurement system of the finest materials.

Finally, 𝑉𝑖𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑒 𝐵𝑎𝑟𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑠 𝐶𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑛𝑖𝑐𝑜 fabrics are finished in a wide variety of styles, being famous not only for their finesse and comfort, but also for their refinement, design elegance, and colors.

The company recently celebrated 350 years, and this impressive achievement marked the acceptance of Vitale Barberis Canonico into the 𝐿𝑒𝑠 𝐻𝑒𝑛𝑜𝑘𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑠 association.

Founded in Paris in 1981, 𝐿𝑒𝑠 𝐻𝑒𝑛𝑜𝑘𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑠 accepts among its members only families who run companies with a history of more than 200 years. Thus, the history of the Barberis family is matched by only 43 other companies worldwide, but few boast such a rich and prestigious tradition as theirs.
